The Secret to Making More Money In Your Business

Do you feel like every dime you make gets sucked into a black hole to pay bills and leaves you asking yourself, 'Where did all the money go?' Want to know an age old secret about managing money?

How can you accomplish that? It's called INCOME PLANNING. I've listed 5 things you can do to make more money in your business.

RESEARCH YOUR TARGET MARKET - First, figure out what products or services your customers want you to make available and then offer what they want. One way to figure out what your customers want is to look over receipts from your past sales, and figure out what product or service is the biggest seller. Question your customers about 1) why they bought that item, and 2) what benefit they expected to get from the purchase Now use what they said in your advertising campaign to promote that product or service.

PROMOTE TO YOUR MARKET - Promoting something in a way that will be responded to by your customers is an art. Promotion does not have to include offering a reduced price. It's much more important to find out the reason a customer wants or needs your product or service, and what criteria they will use to make a buying decision. Price may not be as important as fast delivery and dependable service.

Find inexpensive, but effective ways to promote. When you meet a potential client, get their business card, and send them a personal letter to let them know how your services and products can be of benefit to them. That is one of the least expensive, most personal promotional activities you can use. A series of postcards mailed every 30 days to potential and current clients can also be very effective.

A second great method to get new customers is to ask your satisfied customers for referrals. You can make it fun for your customers to participate in referring new customers by coming up with a referral game they can participate in, where they get something in return for a certain number of referrals who buy. Allow your customers help your business out. They honestly do want you to succeed in your business.

SELL AND DELIVER - Selling is less difficult when you are genuinely interested in your customers and want to help them. ASK your customers what they want. That makes it much easier to sell them your products or services. For example, a family of 4 who wants a van to cart the kids and their equipment around to sports activities is going to walk off in disgust if the salesperson is showing them 2-door sports models, despite the fact that the sports car is a good deal.

Once you've sold the product, fast, courteous, professional delivery is a key to guarantee customer satisfaction. If you are in a service business, this is doubly important. Taking care to deliver exactly what you promised, when you promised it. can mean repeat business and referrals of new customers.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY - For every dollar you decide to spend in your business, figure out how that dollar is going to return $5 or more worth of income back into your business. Set aside a percentage of the income every week to fund a promotional budget and then figure out the most cost effective ways to reach your target market within the budget. It is no laughing matter when your hard-earned income gets wasted on things that do not give you a profitable return on your investment.

REPEAT SUCCESSFUL PROMOTIONAL ACTIONS - Take a look back in the past to when your sales were highest. Find out what successful promotions you were doing at the time that may have dropped out and put those actions back in.
